"Ground Luminosity" (2015, Talitres) marks a decisive step in the discography of British artist Will Samson. This album departs from his more minimalist ambient sound to embrace a detailed and rhythmic folktronica. Recorded partly on the northern coast of Portugal, Samson incorporates, for the first time, a stronger focus on beats and electronics, transforming his usual acoustic fragments and field recordings into more ambitious compositions.

Mixed by Martyn Heyne (known for his work with Nils Frahm) and mastered by Harris Newman, the album benefits from a polished production that highlights the fragility of Samson's voice. Collaborations with Benoit Pioulard and Message To Bears add to the textural richness of this work, which balances folk melancholy with meditative electronic loops. It's the evolution of a sound designer into a composer of introspective songs.
