Jacques Romain Georges Brel: Belgian singer and songwriter, actor and director. Born April 8, 1929 in Schaerbeek, Brussels, Belgium, died October 9, 1978 in Bobigny, France. Singing mostly in French, but there were some versions of his songs in Dutch. In his song "Marieke" he combined Dutch and French in the lyrics. Early in his career, Jacques Brel teaches guitar for a living and move to the Olympia curtain. 1956 is the year of his first great success, "Quand on n'a que l'amour", then comes the titles: Ne me quitte pas, La Valse à mille temps. In 1977 he recorded a final album "Les Marquises".
