Alain Bashung, was born on December 1st, 1947 in Paris. He died at the age of 61 after a two-year fight with lung cancer, on March 14, 2009 in Paris. Song writer, composer and performer, he was also an actor. Despite a somewhat difficult start in his singing career, he gradually made a name for himself and became emblematic of French rock and French song, after Serge Gainsbourg, in the early 80s. We'll always remember the hits "Gaby oh Gaby" and "Vertige de l'amour", then later in the 90s, "Osez Joséphine", "Ma petite entreprise" and "La nuit je mens". He will even influence the young singers of the new French scene. His notoriety equaled that of Matthieu Chedid with 13 victories conquered at the Victoires de la Musique throughout his career.
